Just a quick shout out to SSS for making our 4th of July picnic a success. They made up bags of clams for us - 20 x 12 and every single one was fresh, live and sand-free. I got many compliments. Highly recommend this business!

Planning to smoke a salmon for the weekend. Southside had Faroe Island on sale. Bought a BEAUTIFUL fresh bright 5+ pound filet and of course some calamari salad as a starter. Small 'shop on the corner' with very good selection of fresh and frozen fish and shellfish. The place to go where you can trust the quality.

I had the most authentic NY experience here yesterday. lol it was very awkward but refreshing lol. As a native NYer I gave up on finding valid food spots in Scranton and def not a fresh fish market. A co worker recommended this place after I told her I wanted to make some red snapper……..I went in early afternoon the place was empty and I greeted the man behind the counter pleasantly and he returned my hyper “good morning” with total silence lmao 🤣 I almost repeated myself but decided to just ask for what I needed and not make it a big deal. Dude answered my questions in short words not full sentences. Me:“You guys have red snapped?”….him:.”frozen”…..I was starting to feel the NYer in me defrost lol because sir like wth. lol then he came from behind the counter and showed me the fish and said it was good pieces flops it around shows me and I was sad because I wanted the head on and they didn’t have it fresh with the head on. I was defeated but decided not to be a total waste of the guys time and figured I’d buy a seafood salad just so my visit wasn’t totally for nothin. Fantastic small seafood market in South Scranton! Every holiday you can expect lines, so plan ahead. The staff is friendly and they have a lot of fresh and frozen options of just about everything seafood! Here's a picture i took this morning (December 23rd) at 9:01am (right after they opened). The snow did not keep people from lining up (myself included) 🙂
